1. Remember the SCREW! 2. No need to disassemble the old blade.3. Be careful of the small metal contact in the battery holder as it may pop out.4. Before final assembly, turn the key counterclockwise one turn to activate the switchblade effect. When I got it in the mail I forgot the screw. I disassembled my original (which had no screw) and then tried to disassemble the replacement the same way but forgot that the screw held the new one together. The black tape didn't help either as it covered the screw. I tried taking it apart with a large screwdriver and scraped everything out. I'm surprised it didn't break. As soon as I remembered to remove the black tape covering the screw, I removed the screw and the key fob came off fairly easily. MORON. There is also a small metal contact in the battery holder that came loose when it beeped. Obviously this disabled the key fob. I had to watch a video to see this part going back into the battery compartment, but after replacing it everything was fine. You were supposed to provide some simple drawings or photos for this, but I finally put it together and I love it so much. I've ordered another one in case my wife's keychain inevitably breaks. FINALLY there is no need to disassemble your original metal key from its base (with a tiny pin holding it) as I saw in a video because I compared two keys, a new blank and an old one and they had exactly the same size and shape. It works perfectly, just remember to assemble with a turn of a spring. The bottom line is that it's tricky but not hard to install your old guts and pop the key into that new key fob, you just have to take your time and get it right. Heed these warnings and suggestions. and everything will be fine.
