So far so good - iron

I like retro style. Why not have an iron similar to the one I grew up with? I must have spent a lot of time ironing my father's handkerchiefs as a child. This is the #4 iron I bought, all others have been unsuccessful. And sent it back. All are way more expensive than this one so you might think they are good. no They all had a brief auto shut off, which I hated. I use my iron while sewing, so I want one that either heats up very quickly or just lasts longer even when parked. This one does both and I love it. It's heavier than my old iron, so it takes a little getting used to. But not so heavy that your hand cramps. I make doll clothes and the size is a little bigger than I would like, but that's ok. Besides, I'm still getting used to it. I like the position of the dial to set the temperature, mostly high temperature. I use a spray bottle when ironing, so I can't comment on the steam function. Glides well on fabric. Heats up quickly. Straighten my doll clothes,,,, check, check, check. In general I like it. So as long as it lasts, I'm happy. If he dies in a few months, I'll hate him. Irons aren't new technology, so I'm not sure why companies are having such a hard time making them. This is a good start and I can only hope for a long and happy relationship with my new iron.
