Review on Theo Klein Caterpillar Engine Truck by Sharmake Shuram

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My kids seem to enjoy it even though they were just watching.

A quick glance at the ratings will tell you who is mechanical and who isn't. Obviously, some parents didn't realize that this toy was designed to teach kids how to troubleshoot and repair. The headlights should only work once, then after turning off you need to take them apart and "fix" (reset) the "broken" light. The same goes for the ignition, because when it hits the triangle, the engine cranks but doesn't start. Yes, the plastic is a little flimsy, but that's the way it should be. It doesn't have to be a precise design where everything is perfectly matched. It needs to be built rough enough and sturdy for a small child to put it all back together, sometimes the pieces need to be bent slightly to line up the holes. My kids seem to love it, although it's only tonight that they're seeing me assemble it for the first time. I wanted to make sure I knew how everything works and fits together before they start digging.
