I have an Arista Networks 10G switch in my 25U closet. The switch has two power supplies and six fans. By default, the fans run at high speed, making the Switch sound like it's standing on an airport runway, waiting for takeoff. I overridden the automatic fan settings and set it to a lower speed. Easily audible even from inside the closet, but quiet enough not to be intrusive. Even then, the window air conditioner is less noticeable. The fans still run fast enough to keep the Switch from overheating. unless the room and the temperature in the closet get too hot. This happened from time to time. The red light on the switch came on and the fans turned on. Noisy. A few of these fans seem to have solved the problem. It's been over two weeks since I've put two fans on a top vented cabinet. They suck air from inside the closet and throw it up. I run them at about half speed; That is, half of the semicircle of lights on the controller are lit. The fans are almost inaudible and luckily they hold the switch just as well! It's all in the bedroom, by the way
