After all the rave reviews I had high hopes for these speakers. I planned on placing them on my bedroom ceiling by redoing them and scraping off the popcorn trim. I won't play loud in the bedroom, so I have a Bose speaker system downstairs and another setup outside on the patio. Once I've unpacked it, plugged it in, and run the sim, there's no way I'm going to bother actually plugging it into the quilt. I haven't connected a subwoofer to it yet, and maybe the ceiling would help the bass response a bit? However, I will not enjoy listening to these low quality speakers for years. I think if you've never heard good sound or are used to it, or your ears aren't that sharp, they might suit you? They have almost no bass. They don't seem to have mid frequencies either? I spent 30 minutes getting the receiver to reproduce the frequencies and tones from a CD I've been listening to for over 15 years; many sounds are missing, it's like listening to a completely different CD! these speakers are unable to reproduce the frequency range required to listen to the entire disc. If I didn't know what I was missing, maybe I could be tempted to settle down? The price is high for 5 speakers and do they make sound? That's all I can say about her. Yes, they make great elevator background music in your shop, restaurant, nursing home, doctor's waiting room, etc.? I don't really consider myself an audiophile, but there was no way I could agree with them and understand anyone who could use them as front or center surround speakers in even the most basic home theater setup (seriously!). 2 out of 5 could be used as rear speakers but that's it so I was left with 3. Sorry I tried but they're coming back :-(
