My Surface Pro 4 with Type Cover fits easily in my main bag. In fact, the main compartment might be a little big, but it's better to have more than less space. In my front pocket, I have a 5" x 10" Grid-It with a Surface Pen, nib set, external hard drive, flash drive, 4-port USB hub, and various cables (USB to micro-USB for short, USB for short - Lightning and cable included with hard drive). I can still put my charging cable in my front pocket. It won't win any style awards, but it looks good, the zippers feel solid, and it has enough room for my needs at a low price.
