Didn't know I had never reviewed this camera. I bought it in 2009 when smartphones weren't that smart when it came to photos/videos and by today's standards this product is outdated. 12.1MP is below the standard for high-end Android devices, the 5x zoom (especially so blurry like this camera) is a joke, and many devices can now easily zoom in on video and take quick shots. The W290, despite being in the compact class, is still quite bulky, which is probably why very few people use it anymore. I'm one of those few. It still works well for 5 years (have recently used it while traveling and haven't had to worry about my phone battery draining) and it has many lighting/editing options that you have on a regular smartphone. An SD card can be easily inserted into the reader and media files are easily transferred without using the wired attachments that come with the camera. The Sony Cyber-shot might be a holdover, but it's a working holdover, so I don't see getting rid of it any time soon.
