Review on Enhance Mobility and Safety with Jonti-Craft Up-N-Down Steps by Julie Parker

Large, stable step stool with handrails.

This "kids ladder" is awesome. Our 18 month old became addicted to hand washing and it was becoming too difficult to keep him through the process so we did a lot of research and bought this step stool. We liked the wide, deep steps and handrails. Like him. He feels stable and secure enough to climb up, wash his hands (using the Aqueduck faucet extender) and come back down. The stairs are big enough for him to turn around and walk forward if he wants instead of backing down. Handrails also make this possible. After seeing the first one below in action we bought the second one above. Assembly is minimal. You simply screw on the long "legs" for stability. We have it on a pedestal down by the sink, so we're going to use the legs. At the top it sits opposite a regular bathroom cabinet, so we didn't attach the legs. (There is no place for her if the chair is counter level.) Our little one is now 28 months old and still needs and loves these ladders. They give him autonomy in the bathroom. He might even bend down and turn off the light before going downstairs. I'm not worried about tipping because the stool has such a stable base and the handrails go very high. (And he's older—he knows how far to lean before he falls.) If we wanted him to help cook at the counter, this stool (without support legs) would be perfect for that, too. Although he usually only helps us at the table. There are too many scary things on the counter. Conclusion: This is the best bathroom/kitchen stool for kids, even toddlers.
