Firstly with the factory silicone tips I would give the ZS10 2 or 3 stars. I only used the factory attachments for 15 minutes and they were terrible. The tone was very light, cold and analytical. To boost the bass and balance out the profile, I used memory foam ear tips that completely cover the ear canal. I use this product (12 tips for about $7.00 at Revain): RIYO Replacement Eartips Ear Tips Memory Eartips for 5-7mm Headphones Ear Tips Black S/M/L-12 ST. A hybrid IEM with 4 Balanced Armatures (BA) and a dynamic driver, these headphones have a split personality: the mids and highs are extremely precise, clear and localized. The picture is great and compares well with headphones/earbuds for a few hundred bucks. Volume is boosted in the upper-mid range (e.g. vocals, violins, brass) but not in a harsh or uncomfortable way. they don't make me tired. I can listen for hours (and I'm sensitive/picky about high frequencies). Comfort seems to depend on BA drivers' reaction profiles. The upper bass range is loud, but the dynamic driver does not meet the 4 BA specifications. The mids remain detailed up to the low guitar tones, but then soften and boom with bass guitars, drums and low frequency electronics. There's a certain "one-tone" character that makes the low frequencies sound almost the same. Compared to audiophile headphones, they have little deep bass. They only suggest what it says below: - The cable works and I see no reason to replace it. The wire earwires work great. Oddly enough, it's split by 2 feet (i.e. fits in my belly button) by the design. The plastic cups are lightweight and fit comfortably in my ears (with foam tips). Overall: I gave this 4 stars because the mids and highs are fantastic for the money (or any price) - and the new tips fix other shortcomings. BA drivers are much less edgy and clipping than typical single dynamic driver IEMs. And I prefer them to one of my much more expensive IEM kits.
