I've had this flashlight for a month now. The setting, well, mine only works in one position, the closest I can get straight down. In any other position, the light hits me squarely in the eyes, and the light is so bright it hurts. For this reason, for Zoom calls, we cannot use it at all to illuminate our faces because we would be blinded by the light. I can't figure out what the other positions are for. My monitor is a flat panel, fairly small and not thick at all to allow for proper positioning. My husband has changed the monitor several times and each time I have had to remove and replace the lamp. Now the glue is questionable at best, and the lamp has already fallen on the table twice. Now he "balances" on top. I recommend you find a place to put it and leave it there. It illuminates the screen and keyboard, but there's still a lot of glare on the keyboard and I have to tilt my head forward to type. I've never had this type of light, so I don't know if that's typical for everyone. My screen is about 20 inches wide and I have room for my webcam to the right of the light source. Although the light is off-center, it illuminates what I want to see.
