Pretty easy to assemble! Just a dozen screws. 8 are a different size than 4 on the top shelf! I was concerned about the size of the screws and the thickness of the bottom shelves that I might have trouble with. I used a 5/32 hex bit and screwdriver instead of messing around with the wrench that came with it and had no problems. Even with the top shelf, there was plenty of room to work! The device is a bit heavier than similar products you can get in big stores but that gives me hope that this is just a quality product! I'm sure these aren't marble shelves but they look the same! Whoever chose the finish for gluing over wood did a great job! In my case this is a great side or end stand. I needed space for an extra phone charger and a very welcome clock in the theater/guest room. The crate is on the second shelf and can be viewed optionally. I'll use it to hide things that need to be placed, but there really isn't a place! I was able to tighten all the screws without removing them which gives me confidence in the product. I love it and would choose it again if I ever need it!
