For storing grain in moderately humid climates. They do a great job of keeping the granola crisp and I just washed them in the dishwasher yesterday. They came out flawless. The only downside, which doesn't bother me too much but might bother you, is that it can be difficult to get the cereal out of the hole when it's full. In this case, you can either remove the lid or simply scoop it out with a spoon or your fingers. I like that when you lift the lid you can slide the lid all the way back and it hooks so when you pour it doesn't fall right into the middle of the river you're pouring in. It's made of thick plastic and has outlasted my four young children. Anything that isn't broken by them gets two thumbs up from me.
