Compatible with Classic and Ring

This is my third doorbell in my home in 20 years. Replaced the original mechanical doorbell with a Home Depot digital one. My digital lasted about five years and bought the dust. A mechanical bell can hardly be surpassed in terms of reliability. Back to that mechanical doorbell. I easily paid half what I paid for my digital device and I bet this one lasts three times as long. As a bonus, this call has a classic ringtone! Remember - if you're replacing a digital doorbell and the door has a plain old-school button, you'll need to remove the diode in the doorbell button itself. Leave the transformer wires connected as is after removing the diode. The diode is usually black with a silver stripe. It connects two terminals in the button body. Google "Doorbell Diode Drawing" will show all the details and pictures if you need them. If you have a ringtone, you need to go to the mobile app device settings and set the ringtone to a mechanical doorbell type. The environment is buried deep and it may take you a while to find it. In my current version of the app it's in the hamburger menu (top left) -> Devices -> Front Door (or whatever your ring is called) -> Device Settings -> General Settings -> Doorbell Type. I suspect there's a similar one on the Ring website, but I haven't checked. Other little things. Four screws are required to mount this doorbell. It includes dowels and screws. A little annoying as my old doorbells only had one screw and I ended up drilling the holes. The hole for the transformer wires is in the top left corner of the back panel. My old bells were centered on the panel and of course the wall was painted and I have pictures just below my doorbell. This means I would have to move the images and touch up the color to use the top left hole. I ended up drilling a new hole in the center back panel and fished out the wires behind the magnetic pistons to cover the unpainted area and avoid my photos. Ultimately, no big deal, just stumbled upon something that might interest you. It ended up taking 20 minutes to install and the new call looks better than my old one! Very satisfied.
