Review on πŸŽ’ Men's Hiking Backpack - Osprey Stratos 34 by Logan Tripp

Great set and accessories to get the right fit

I bought this S/M size set for my husband as a gift. He is lean but muscular. The backpack was perfect in terms of internal size, strap length, and accessibility of pockets and buckles. However, the straps cut into his neck muscles because the point where they connect to the movable shield is very tight. It was only at the nominal weight (5 pounds?). It would be unbearably busy and on the trail. We tried to set up based on the site by trial and error. Nothing made him comfortable. We even went to the local REI and asked them for help. We were only able to get the width just right by placing the back panel so low on the Velcro that the straps became too short and the padded portions ended just inches below the collarbone. I'm only 2 inches shorter than him so we decided to order him an M/L to see if the harness is different. It worked. I kept the S/M for myself. Bottom line, my husband is 5 years old. 5 inches tall, slim build but muscular. According to the measurements he should have worn an S. So if you're muscular or have a wider neck/shoulder, you might want to consider going up a size for more comfort. I'm really pleased that Osprey offers so many options to help you find exactly what you need.
