I bought this poncho as an "upgrade" to a plain plastic one I used to carry around in my backpack. This one takes up more room, but it's about the size of an umbrella, so still fits easily in my backpack. Overall, it's a good poncho with plenty of room to go over my backpack, camera and binoculars. It's roomy and easy to wear. I've not used it as a tarp or for camping.My only complaint is the visor is very flimsy and flops down over my eyes, so I have to fold it back. If this part was a sturdier piece of material that kept its shape, this would be perfect.
