Considering the cost I had some doubts that this ignition lock cylinder would work properly. However, it was the perfect setup and it was fully anti-theft compatible. On many GM vehicles, the computer must detect the rotation of the key cylinder in order for the engine to keep running. Simply removing the lock cylinder and turning the ignition with a screwdriver is not possible. This is an easy replacement if your current lock cylinder works at all. Disconnect the battery as you turn the key to the start position to remove it. Remove the speaker's top and bottom cases by unscrewing a couple of screws, and if it's a tilted speaker you can pry the release adjustment lever right out of the speaker. Turn the ignition switch to the working position and insert a pick or other suitable small tool into the hole above the lock cylinder. Rotate further to its original position and push down to release the lock. Now you can remove the cylinder. Line up the new one and press it into place. It's really easy to reinstall. It should take about 10 minutes total!
