Review on Melissa & Doug Rainbow Stacker: Enhancing Learning with Wooden Rings by James White

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than any other forklift!

I like it so much! I actually have 2, one for my daughter and one for my husband's cousin's daughter. It's much nicer than the cheap plastic ones, and they don't sing unnecessary and annoying songs like some stackers I've seen. They are just the right size and so cute! One of the features I appreciate the most is that the stick you place the stack on is a straight stick. Some stackers have cone shaped rods and the size of the hole on each ring is different. This prevents the child from putting smaller rings on the floor. Basically you can only stack the rings in the right order with these stackers. Although this is not the case! They can stack the rings in any order, which is definitely better for development as they have a chance to practice stacking before deciding on size and color. I also wanted to comment on the recommended age as it is 18+ months. It's kind of ridiculous for this toy. Actually, I've always had this problem with Melissa and Doug, but it's not a big deal because their toys are so cool and you can decide which toys are right for your kids at different ages and developmental levels. I am sure that by around 18 months most children can easily and efficiently fold rings in the right order. But that doesn't mean you have to wait until then to give it to them. My daughter is 8 months old and she loves this item! She can just play with the bricks and watch us and her older brother stack them until she can. At the moment she prefers unlocking, which is a good thing and also an important part of her development. The quality of these products is fantastic and I would highly recommend them to any other installer.
