Very cute, like most M&D items. The rings fit well etc. I mean a stick with rings. The problem is that the base (with the stick) has pretty sharp corners. Without the rings, the stick makes a great grip, allowing kids to run around and bang on things, scratch wooden furniture, and possibly scratch each other. I bought this for my son for his first birthday not expecting him to understand right away but he did! He has trouble with large rings, but can easily hold and put on small ones. Sometimes he struggles because the pedestal falls over and I have to hold it for him. And sometimes he uses the base/pole as a weapon and throws it, so you have to be careful with that. I love this toy, but the red wooden ball on top is too tempting for a small child to fling it across the room with reckless force. My 2 year old nephew is learning to throw balls. When I bought this product I read about the Melissa and Doug toys and didn't want to buy my little one a rainbow stacker toy. I specifically wanted a quality wooden toy and it had decent reviews and seemed reasonable (perhaps too reasonable for the price). When it arrived: The blocks were vibrant and rich colors. I like it so much! I actually have 2, one for my daughter and one for my husband's cousin's daughter. It's much nicer than the cheap plastic ones, and they don't sing unnecessary and annoying songs like some stackers I've seen. They are just the right size and so cute!
