I bought this for my 3 year old as another toy to read and recognize letters and numbers. I wasn't sure what to expect but she's really enjoying it. If she's not sure where to start, I tell her what colors to use. She figured out what to do very quickly and seems to enjoy playing with it. It's also a lot of fun to use to create shapes and pictures for them. The set is well made and perfect for relaxed play or travel. I think 3 years is the ideal age to start, up to 6 or 7 years. Although older children know letters and numbers, it is still good eye hand and manipulation. This toy gives a lot for your money! I recommend Coogam Woodan Letter, Number Sorter Puzzle.
