To open the shaker, all you have to do is twist in one direction to get to the correct opening.
Rotate to open in one direction only. If you're not careful, the top of the lid will come off easily. Also, you have to turn the top a couple of times to get the right hole for regular salt. The other two holes are not suitable for table salt.
