I bought this looking for pure Fe2O3. It is clear that this is NOT pure Fe2O3, but iron ore with a high proportion of Fe2O3. It also contains a significant amount of hydroxides (apparently H2O is released when heated to 600F). Unfortunately, it is not useful for thermite reactions, as it barely sustains combustion and there is no iron yield (less than 1%). Update: Boiling HCL analysis shows only 73.6% soluble in acid, which is an upper limit for iron oxide content. If you still want to use this for thermite, which I don't recommend, you'll need to adjust your weight accordingly.
