I received these items as a gift. I pocketed it and cleaned the block, I was surprised when I was shocked. I took out my multimeter and found that 3 of the 4 "carbon brushes" were charged. Next, I checked the remaining two devices and found that they also have different charge levels. It wasn't enough to hurt you badly, but it was enough to make you notice. I disassembled one of the blocks and found that it was just a 555 timer with a circuit that fed current directly to the brushes. I do not know if it works. but I will not use it as I have a small child and I cannot risk electrocuting them.
