This pillow is the perfect size for a child but I bought it for my small adult. I put it on my regular pillow and use it against my headboard to read in bed. It's incredibly comfortable. The back of the pillow is at an optimal height to rest your head on. I don't use armrests per se, but they add a cozy feel to the pillow and help keep the pillow balanced. The crushed foam is soft with plenty of resilience, unlike molded pillows which I find too hard to be comfortable. Although the contents are soft and "runny", the pillow keeps its shape. The pillow has a removable outer cover made of soft velvet. Removable for machine wash. The cover fits well, its zipper is perfectly aligned with the base of the pillow for easy removal. The company also offers additional covers. I have used reading pillows for many years. They vary greatly in size and shape. and quality. This is one of the best and at the time of writing this review the price was reasonable.
