Bought as surge protector for my amp, receiver, two turntables, two CD players and two cassette decks. The amp sound is best plugged directly into the wall, so I didn't want a noise filter in between, but I still wanted surge protection. However, I wanted a noise filter for all other components. I connected and protected one amplifier to a direct line and the rest to a filtered output. Everything sounds better. The amp is still open, clean, and unfiltered, and the rest of the components that pass through it sound cleaner, more focused, and full of life. It's the best of both worlds. It's like putting crystal clear glasses on your ears. The sound is not filtered. A common complaint about voltage regulators is that they suck the life out of the music. It's barely noticeable in a good system, but it's like the difference between listening to something live and recording something. Everything sounds alive with this extension. I would even say that everything sounds more alive that way. For those who think it's a placebo, think of it like an FM radio antenna. The crisper and clearer the signal, the better your system will sound. I also thought it was a scam but turns out it wasn't. I'll say if all you need is surge protection, at least it won't ruin your sound. Just remember to connect the amplifier to a direct line and the rest to a filtered one. Experiment with what sounds best for your system. In the end it's all personal taste.
