Review on πŸ”₯ VISOTECH 12-inch Gas Cooktop with 2 Burners, Stainless Steel Gas Hob, Dual Fuel (LPG/NG) and Flame Failure Device - Silver by Kenny Marozas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great stove for an RV (with some caveats)

I bought this to convert my 1977 GMC RV. I chose this from the huge range of propane cooktops available from Revain as I found it to have the strongest grate and I am not disappointed with this feature. The grille is a good strong piece of metal. However, unless you drive only on the slickest of roads, the rust and burners will need to be removed while driving. I can try to make some sort of clip system or lid that will hold everything in place while I move, but for now I put the grate and burners in the drawer during the move. I find it odd that the seller/manufacturer keeps answering questions about converting to 12v by saying it's not possible. I think most people buying this item are looking for something for their RVs and a 120v igniter is pretty much useless for this application. Maybe it's done to protect their butt from lawsuits, or maybe it's because you can't just flip the switch to reach it, but you can definitely use any propane stovetop with igniters for 12v or AA - Make batteries. Not to mention. If they started making this item with a battery powered igniter they would be the ONLY ON Revain selling a 2 burner propane cooktop that did not require 120v for the igniter and they would skyrocket their sales! I can't believe no seller has figured this out yet. In any case. I opened this up and completely removed the 120v wire and ignition module (I left the spark heads and wires in place) and replaced the spark generator with an AA battery powered barbecue lighter (ten dollars or less at Revain. I had one of those lying around). an old grill). You'll need to learn a bit about wiring to get the new igniter to work with your existing buttons, or you can just mount the spark generator/button block anywhere near the cooktop (even inside the cooktop) and use the button on the new lighter (in which case you will the handle is of course no longer used to *ignite* the burner, only to control the propane gas). The thermocouple function also works in this configuration. You have to hold the button while lighting and once the thermocouple has warmed up for a few seconds you can release the button. Otherwise the flame will go out (a good safety feature to prevent gas flow when there is no flame). Finally, hooking up a prop line is like nothing I've ever experienced here in the States, and I have plenty of propane and natural gas lines. Essentially, the fitting that is permanently attached to the gas line has a *flat* connection to the flare (as opposed to the actual flare you see on most gas/propane fittings). You *can* do this simply using what's in the box, but you *must* use the supplied elbow. Contains two fiber discs. Place one of these in the flat fitting and then attach the elbow. At this point you can either attach the adjuster to your knee or use the standard black tubing to create the configuration you want. Overall I'm very happy with the functionality, durability and aesthetics of this hob, you just need a bit of know-how to make it work for your RV or RV!
