Others that complain that the carpet is getting ruined probably have cheap plastic low profile casters on their chair. My herman miller chair was chewing up the carpet on this pad then I replaced the casters with taller Rollerblade style wheels and problem solved. With better wheels the chair will move across this mat easier with your weight on the chair as well.Previously I was using a plastic mat which was fine but it was getting hard to keep clean. This mat was cheap enough to give me years of use and much easier to clean with a vacuum. This mat also gives much better cushion under my feet and it feels warmer during the winter.Edit: dropping one star after replacing the mat with a new one and now the material on the top is lifting off the bottom where my rubber chair casters typically sit. It seems like in a few months this will get to the point where the material will get stuck in the casters. I work from home so I'm putting 8+ hours of sitting on this mat so your milage may vary.
