As a preface I would add that I've spent MANY hours trying to get the thing to work with no success. I am an engineer by profession and have a good knowledge of electronics. This laser device seems like a great idea and is a replica of the other laser engraver on this home page. Unfortunately, the prints are mostly unsuccessful. Sometimes the laser lights up and sometimes it doesn't. It appears to be running at full power and you can see it moving, but it just doesn't engrave anything in random places. I get prints that are half done. I tried setting the laser power and depth to 100% on both, with no discernible success. I measured the exact distance 200mm high which, according to the Laserpecker application, is the correct distance from the laser to the object. The laser is centered, which I even checked with the laser collimator I use at work. The block is also perfectly flat and balanced. I went so far as to even try it on different devices, thinking it was my iPhone 11, used an older iPad Air 2 and even 2 Android tablets on different operating systems. However, engraving is ubiquitous. I thought maybe it was also the power supply, since the supplied power supply works very poorly for lack of a better one, and the measured voltage is present everywhere. Uses a professional 5V to 4Amp adapter that provides clean 5V power, and still no luck. I will say that the engraving paper worked well and there were no problems. However, I do not use engraving paper and simply bought it as a wood engraver. The wood I used was made specifically for the laser engraver and is a light colored softwood. I also have a traditional 1W laser engraver that I bought a few years ago, so I have enough experience with laser engraving. However, it is extremely difficult to use as one has to use multiple programs and plug it directly into the PC with gcode to actually write the element. I was hoping it would be a lot easier and more convenient. Which is in its defense, but then again, it just doesn't work the way it's supposed to. I spent a decent amount on this machine (more than double my old laser engraver) and it's just a non-functional machine. Needless to say it's coming back and I'm very disappointed that it didn't work. Please avoid this article like the plague.
