Not *pitch* black, but dark enough
I bout this because my dorm is near a soccer field and its nearly bright as day when they leave the lights on, it was too bright to sleep properly for me even with the blinds down.
These block out enough light that when I wake up initially in the morning, its hard to tell if its night or day.
