Review on πŸ“ˆ Seca 700 - Eye-Level Beam Mechanical Column Scale for Enhanced SEO by Angie Baker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Like in the doctor's office, if you want to use the gold standard on the scale try the bar

When the height bar is all the way down it doesn't block anything. 1/8 lb is possible because most of the weight is moved in 20 lb increments. Other balancers use 50 pounds. One reviewer tested it and said it was accurate to 1/4 lb. There is an interesting chart in the manual's datasheet that lists 0.22lbs to 110lbs. Then the accuracy starts to drop. At 220 pounds, that's 0.44 pounds. I like honesty and the chart is in kg so I just did the conversion. Out of the box, I got 3.9% lower readings. 201 pounds was 193.5 and 161.4 was 155.4. I even tried adding 10.4 pounds and got 3.9% less too. Then somehow, 12 hours later, with only gravity working on him, this scale adjusted and became perfect. The manual says nothing about this. A partial circle shape is visible on the black base, but only when illuminated by a flashlight. I'm guessing they stacked these platforms at the factory and glued on a little bit of the rest. It hasn't washed off with water but I don't want to keep rubbing it, it can only be seen with a flashlight. Weight is in pounds only and readable on either side. For some Seca models, the weights in pounds and kilograms differ. The height band is given in both inches and centimeters. The instructions don't tell you how to raise and lower the bar resting on your head: you need to gently pull both thumbs to raise it and both index fingers to lower it. My final trick is to first stand on my old electronic scale and then move the weights on the balance beam to that value. This saves time and I quickly learn how to move the bar smoothly for final adjustment.
