Singing Plastic on Portable AV

Swiss Army Knife Media Player: FM and AM (with whip antenna that folds into case), CD player and USB port capable of playing MP3s. This is the only BT speaker I've found on the Revain with a USB connection that can recognize and navigate through folders (and stop at the end of the folder being played). And like other reviewers have said, it's pretty cute. Unfortunately it doesn't sound very good. Absolutely no bass, my educated guess is that it doesn't go much below 600Hz. The lower middle is weakened. Bass needs power, and 1.5 watts per speaker isn't enough. Not very high either. Imagine AM radio in an old car. As a result, the music sounds rather dull and flat. The way the speakers vent spreads the sound around the room fairly well, making it efficient enough to deliver decent sound levels over the speakers' limited range. The problem is small speakers and cabinets; sounded good through headphones. Low power consumption ensures good battery life. The "singing tree" probably comes from other speakers they make with nice hardwood cabinets. This baby's thin plastic body resonates at high frequencies, further distorting the sound spectrum into the upper-mid range. I'm buying a more powerful speaker but will keep it as a second set due to its multifunctionality. And it's nice. Not for those who love rock or appreciate nuances in their music. Good for background music at a cocktail party, but these "Christmas Lights" are not for a dance party.
