Review on 🚴 Selle Italia X1 X-Cross Saddle: A Revolutionary Blend of Comfort and Performance by Alan Estell

Gently cradles my 50-year-old "equipment "

Prefetch. The used saddle that came with my used bike may be comfortable for someone else, but not for me. It looked like a medieval torture device with a blunt wedge trying to slowly slice me in half. My column was preparing to follow the path of the San Andreas Fault. I did a lot of research and measured sit bones with a sheet of aluminum foil on a folded blanket on a chair. It worked at 115mm, which felt right for this 145mm wide saddle. You will need about 10-15mm on each side of the sit bones. I wanted a saddle that was fairly flat on top to provide support, with a slow drop in the middle to leave my soft stuff alone. is no different than sitting on a flat, hard surface. The gel pad is just right for me and the shape is surprisingly comfortable. The saddle is nicely built and doesn't look cheap, but it's good value. Chromoly steel rails instead of carbon steel would have been nice, but a few grams won't help me win the Tour de France anyway. The saddle fits me with about the same comfort.

Pros
  • EXTRA padding - The reinforced padding of this road bike saddle ensures a secure fit on long-distance rides and protects the rider from skin infections
Cons
  • Functionality
