This cable will not work. I was trying to use this cable to connect an MBP with a Thunderbolt 3 port to an external hard drive that uses a USB B 3.0 connection. Disk metadata was recognized, but file I/O operations are not performed on a 10Gbps USB connection. When I switched to using a standard USB 3.0 A/B cable with a passive to USB-C adapter, the USB connection and file operations work as expected. This means that the problem is not with the external hard drive enclosure and computer, but with the cable.
