Beautiful and washable but needs sewing to stay

My 4 year old daughter complained that her jeans were ugly and instead of buying her some horrible printed leggings we compromised, by buying some glue patches to decorate jeans. These patches are bright, durable and washable. Like all iron-on patches, I had to sew them on to keep them flat and in place when washed. I expected this when I bought them but I want the patches to stay in place without being sewn on.
