Good news --- It helps, my dentist was happy with the results and this item is worth the price. Breaking News -- I'm a fan of simplicity. I noticed that some others were upset that there were only 3 settings and 1 spike type and wished there were more. I don't think I would ever use them if I had 22 different settings and 8 different tip combinations. If most of us were honest, we'd probably admit that we'll probably find a setting or two that we like and will probably use them all the time. However, the "Normal" setting is too strong for the inside of my mouth and the "Soft" setting doesn't seem strong enough. The third setting is "Pulse", which really combines both. It would have been nice to have a few more settings - I went with the portable option because it fits in a backpack and can be used at work etc. The downside is that the size of the water tank is too small. I end up having to fill it out two or three times. It's not a big deal, but I worry that every time I open and lock the handheld (you do this by twisting it into place) I'll wear a seal and end up locked and spilling water. I'm happy with the purchase and I recommend it, but I don't plan on buying it for many years.
