Based on my first impression I am giving this product 5 stars. One of the best products from a Chinese company. The catch is that this charger lasts at least 2 years so I can say it's a good general purpose product. This is also an overview of a working charger. The first was sent used, defective. I won't deduct a few stars as I was able to send it back to Revain at no additional cost other than a little time and a trip to the UPS store. PROS: - it works as described - charge flashes in about 1 second at full power. vs. 3 seconds with in-flash batteries alone - gives about 26 full flash fires before the SB-900 heats up and shuts down vs. 20 fires with in-flash batteries - works great with eneloop batteries - just go for it : Insert batteries into the charger and then insert the plug into the flash. Start recording.- 1/4 price of a Nikon product. Nikon charges its charger. Neutral: A beep sounds with each charging process. I assume it's ok. What does this mean if the charger has no moving parts? The strap does not easily thread through to attach to a lamp stand - The plastic is cheap, it smells like cheap Chinese plastic. It's only a matter of time before oil seeps out of the plastic housing and cable. Then it starts cracking - as always an illiterate English guide - one of their warnings in the guide is to stop everything if there's smoke or plastic is melting. Oo.- You buy this charger knowing it's not covered under warranty. They have a small piece of paper written in Chinese that claims to be a guarantee. Good luck with it. Back to the first broken one: the first one came used and broken. Luckily Revane "fulfilled" this item so I just sent it back and bid on another one. I don't know why Revane wastes time and money shipping broken things. I was able to send it back and got a new one without much hassle. That's the main reason I've been shopping with Revain for many years - their almost no hassle return policy.
