Review on πŸ’‘ AmazonBasics Equivalent White Non Dimmable 6 Pack: Affordable Lighting Solution for Everyday Needs by Lisa Barber

Revainrating 5 out of 5

LEDs are now ready for prime time, great lightbulbs.

I tried LED bulbs a few years ago but was disappointed with the harshness of the light. I tried four indoor/outdoor indoor spotlights and two standard table/floor lamps. I removed them and returned to the bulbs. Fast forward a few weeks ago when I bought this and the 60 watt version, both with no dimming and a soft white light. Very pleasantly surprised by the soft white 60w and 75w bulbs. I've replaced almost every lightbulb in the house, inside and out. I have also bought spotlights for indoor and outdoor lighting, three E12 candelabra bulbs, 6 bulbs for the bathroom and am in the process of upgrading two sets of ceiling fans from halogen to LED. It seems the technology is ready for prime time. Soft natural light, significantly lower power consumption and no loss of brightness. No flickering, noise or other defects. When I say LEDs are more energy efficient, I'm referring to published information and the heat output of incandescent and halogen lamps compared to LEDs. Using an IR thermometer my internal bulbs test for about 185-190 degrees from about 4 feet away. The LED equivalent is about 90 degrees. In both cases the temperature can be 5%(?) higher than usual because they are at a high point in the ceiling where the heat from the HVAC system is collected. on an outer globe, not on a lightbulb. They can operate at temperatures above 200 degrees. Time will tell if the expected lifetime of the LEDs is as advertised. If so, they will most likely outlive me. Before buying, I would recommend buying test samples from a regular store that has a test display. There are different types of lighting, dimmable and non-dimmable, and power consumption levels. You will feel the type of light and the brightness of the bulbs. I prefer my local Home Depot (not HD related) for the customer-friendly display and wide range of brands and bulbs. Also, the HD prices are about the same as Revain.

Pros
  • This LED bulb consumes only 10.5W of energy and saves up to $81.68 over the life of the bulb compared to its incandescent equivalent (based on 3 hours per day, 11 cents/kWh, may vary by tariff and usage )
Cons
  • I will add later
