I bought this fan for emergencies (hurricanes) because I live in Florida. According to the specification, it consumes only 550mA. It has a two-stage power switch, but the fans airflow is sufficient at the lowest speed, which I will use to conserve power during a power outage while I sleep. I have a small alternator that I will only run during the day like last year after Hurricane Irma (three days of power outage) to save fuel. This fan is used in the bedroom with a portable 12 volt power supply. I chose the most efficient (lowest advertised) fan so my smallest 12v power supply lasted at least 8 hours. Durability is only tested by time. It also comes with self-adhesive sticky pads (4 total) to hold the fan in place. They would be more applicable in automotive applications. The two fans have multiple rotational movements to adjust airflow. Each of them can be located independently of the other. You can point one at yourself and rotate the other to point at your partner.
