Graphics card update almost forces monitor update. My old graphics card had two DVI outputs and I use two monitors (both with DVI). I recently upgraded and the new card only has DVI out, HDMI and a couple of DisplayPort connectors. I first tried an old DVI to HDMI cable (or maybe it was HDMI to DVI) that didn't work for sending video to my second monitor. I ordered this adapter because it was the cheapest, had good reviews, and claimed to be bi-directional. Now the display works as expected and I don't have to buy an expensive new monitor.
