These scissors are practice scissors for toddlers and come with a spring on the back to hold the scissors open. To use (cut) them, the user must close them. They are perfect for my 2 year old who is learning dexterity by holding pencils and learning to cut in preschool. She can actually use them without too much trouble, but she needs to practice first. She can use them with both her right and left hand, although she is mostly left-handed. The scissors are exactly as pictured and I did not feel it appropriate to provide images as they look exactly like the photo. They also make small cuts and are suitable for activities with young children - under supervision, of course. Because I liked them so much, I ordered her a pair for school (they were on her school supplies list) and one for homeschooling.
