PRO: In terms of what this product is for, it works AMAZINGLY well. I adopted a stray 2 month old kitten that I found and then immediately realized that my apartment was in no way ready for a kitten so I booked this to be safe. It only takes him two or three times to feel sticky before he stops even trying. Example: My trash can became his favorite bed, so I woke up every morning with the trash can on the side and the trash was everywhere. I finally got the idea to use duct tape on it and so far it's been 3 nights with duct tape on the bin and I haven't been woken up by an overturned bin since. Same goes for my jewelry shelves and the closet that holds my cleaning supplies (while also being childproof, it can't try to eat Lysol wipes or anything like that, so double the security). CONS: It is VERY sticky. One day I noticed that when he took his paw off the tape, he shook his paw the next time he stepped on it. I checked his paws, he's fine, but he's very sticky for kittens. What I did to help is now when I place it I put my hand on it a few times first. This will help get rid of maximum stickiness but still remain sticky enough to repel. It's short-haired, so it's not a big deal, but it might pose a bigger problem if your cat or kitten has long hair and very fluffy paws. The second downside is that it removed some of the paint from my kitchen cabinets. That being said, the directions clearly state to test a small strip before using it extensively so one of them is like mine. BONUS FEATURES: Although this band was designed to prevent scratches, I found 2 other very useful features for it. . 1: Keep things in place. As always, my kitty wants to gradually knock things off my desk and coffee table. The simple solution I came up with is to tape this thing to the bottom of whatever he likes to knock over and yes my pencil cup stays on my desk for now. 2: Don't let him chew the strings. There are quite a few cables behind my TV. I did my best to organize and keep them to a minimum, but of course he was still very interested. I used this tape to tie 3 strings together and it helps with both organization and preventing him from chewing on it. Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Anyone who has complained about their furniture being damaged or stained didn't read the instructions or, frankly, was just using common sense. The second I felt how sticky he was, I had a pretty strong feeling that he was going to take some paint with him. Also, the most important note is that YOU SHOULD PROVIDE THE CAT WITH AN ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE SURFACE FOR THE GIRL. Cats need to scratch. So if you use that duct tape but don't give them anything acceptable to scratch, it will just be a cycle of them finding something new to scratch that you don't agree with either. Accept scratches, they must be the same level as the tray. This isn't just a toy, it's a legitimate necessity for your cat's health and happiness.
