I don't use it for a traditional desk but for a couple of small Ikea tables that I set up to make scale models on to build . I needed some sort of system to organize my frequently used X-acto knives, brushes, pens, etc., and luckily this system includes multiple storage drawers that have room for all of these things. I have it in a J shape, with a long edge (two long metal sections joined in the middle) down the back of the tables and a short edge (two short metal sections joined in the middle) down the side of one . It hangs about 6 inches above the second table. The storage bins simply fit over the triangular metal profiles and can be moved almost anywhere. Less mobile is the socket, which can only be moved up to a certain limit due to the length of the cable and the fact that it is routed through metal profiles. Various connectors are included in the kit. So if you want to add more corners, there are enough parts for that, as well as parts for butt joining metal profiles. The outlet has a standard grounded outlet and two USB ports. Also included is a phone stand with an integrated USB port and a cable that can also be plugged into a power outlet. All plastic connectors have self-adhesive feet to help you secure the organizer in place, as well as a set of self-adhesive hook and loop fasteners. Attach containers to a surface if you wish. Personally, I like having them articulated so I can move them out of the way when needed. Parts for attaching to cabs are also included, but I didn't go into detail about that as I don't need them.
