Just what I needed best in my review

We had a drop zone issue, and I considered different ways to solve it, eventually realizing that a product like this was what we needed.I was constrained by the tight location both in height and width, and this was one of the few closet-type items narrow enough to fit, and tall enough to take full advantage of the shorter than average vertical space. It arrived damaged, someone either dropped something heavy on it or dropped the item itself, resulting in a torn box and three shelves (both long ones and one small one) being bent. Between tapping them a bit straighter with a rubber mallet and careful positioning, only one bend is visible and the structural integrity of the unit doesn’t seem to be compromised. It was easy to assemble with the help of my 10 yo, and the aforementioned rubber mallet. I think it maybe took 30-40 minutes including the time to change the spacing between some of the small shelves, meaning that they had to be tapped loose and repositioned. The adjustable feet are very nice, especially in an old house where not a single surface is actually level.I like the drawers that came with it and wish I could order two more. I ended up getting a wire basket because while I did find some cube drawers that are of similar dimensions and color, I knew there was no way they would match these well enough to look nice and the mismatch would bother me.I do wish that I could have gotten this in white, but the fact that it’s open and allows light through keeps it from looking too dark and heavy. It stores everything I needed it to. My hobby equipment, backpacks, overflow jackets for our northern existence, plenty of shoes (I raised the small shelves to accommodate tall boots in the bottom drawer. I suggest placing the items you want to store there during assembly so you can place the next shelf at the height that works for you), hats, gloves, and scarves - and bike helmets and grocery bags, courtesy of some S hooks I added. Now things don’t end up on the floor when we come home, it’s so easy to place items immediately where they belong. Also - some people mentioned wanting casters, and if you can find screw-in ones, I don’t see why you couldn’t add some. The only issue might be finding ones that both fit and are rated for the load that this unit can hold. All in all, five stars for pure usefulness, four stars for aesthetics.

Pros
  • Easy to assemble, stable and functional.
Cons
  • May not be ideal for storing bulky items
