Review on CMVision IR110-114 LED Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 200-300ft IR Illuminator + Free 2A 12VDC Adaptor by Brian Barnes

Almost as bright as daylight

I wasn't sure if this would work with my security cameras (ZP-IBT15-S) as I assumed the wavelength would be in the nanometer range. As soon as I received it, I did a test the evening before installation and I was thrilled. These lights are super bright! The lights cover my entire driveway (120 feet long) and a mailbox that I've never been able to see at night before because of the camera's IR LEDs. However, it looks like a flashlight. It would be better to bulge the protective box outwards to get a wider light distribution, or to use fewer lamps and a concave mirror. I'm not sure if this will reach 300 feet, but it does light up my neighbor's house a bit. Street which is about 160 meters away. The moths are no longer attracted to the camera which is a bonus as they are now all hovering around this glowing light. The low light sensor works great and only works at night when it's supposed to. The cable and adapter are very short, so I'm giving it four stars. I recommend purchasing a DC power cord extension, connecting power directly to this light, or installing it alongside an existing power source. When buying an extension cord, be sure to buy a cord with a sufficiently large gauge, depending on the length, current (2A) and power (12VDC). A longer cable length means more electrical resistance, so a larger gauge wire must be used to get the required power for this light source. I assume that anything with a power drop below 5% will do for this flashlight. Anything beyond that can damage the adapter or light components.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
