I've ordered several soldering kits here from Revain not realizing they contain SMD components. A few years ago I did an apprenticeship in such components, but have not soldered an SMD since then. I was afraid I would easily ruin the sentences, so I decided to practice. There are no instructions in this set. It's literally just an exercise board. About 1/4 of the board has a working LED circuit, but the other 3/4 of the board is not working. My soldering iron was too hot so the components in this kit immediately stuck to my soldering iron when I applied the solder. So I lost a few resistors so I can't complete the working LED circuit on this board on one side. I'd really like to see Gikfun include a few extra parts for all sorts of components instead of supplying the exact amount of parts needed for the LED circuit and some extra soldering parts on the practical side of the PCB. Anyway, this kit has served its purpose. I would rather ruin this training board than the functional sets I bought it for training. Again, it would be really nice if Gikfun included additional components of all kinds in this kit. If you need to practice SMD soldering or you really like it and don't want to get your own parts and make your own PCBs then this kit is a good test for you. Otherwise just don't buy this kit, there's no point. SMD components are microscopic and unless you have equipment like fine tweezers, a temperature controlled soldering station, a microscope or magnifying glass, etc., working with this kit or any kit using SMD components is going to be a nightmare.
