Review on πŸ”’ Secure Your MacBook and Surface Laptop with Kensington's Keyed Lock Cable - K64453WW by Scott Channell

Reliable and easy to use

I use my laptop more like a desk, with the lid closed and three external monitors on the desk. So I needed a reliable dual monitor docking station. (The third uses a direct output from a laptop, which is a Lenovo Legion 5 15-inch). I tried three other cheap docking stations from different manufacturers and none of them did what they said they would. Their displays kept turning off randomly or not being recognized by the laptop when connected to other docking stations. I chose this dock in large part because my wife has a Kensington dock that she loves, and it's always been my "known good" benchmark when troubleshooting the cheaper docks I've tried. seems reliable and of good quality and one interaction I've had with their customer service has been reassuring. I also specifically wanted a self-powered docking station rather than laptop power. I suspect these USB-C powered docks just aren't getting enough power to keep things going, especially when you add USB peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, or external drive. This dock just works. I've had no trouble getting my two 23-inch displays in windows, and don't accidentally turn them off and on. I don't use the locking feature on this dock as I have my laptop installed under my desk in my home office. It's a good idea, but I don't want to keep the lid open all the time. So it's on my desk and I just put an external hard drive on it to save space. I don't think I would have bought this dock at the original price (about $200 I think?), about $70 was too good to pass up the Kensington. My advice to anyone disappointed with cheap docks that don't work as promised is to get this one and be done with it, even if you don't need the locking feature.
