Review on Efficiently Peel with Update International (EGU-5) Pro-Grip Straight Peeler by Pamela Jackson

piece of trash. - Kitchen & Dining

I've had a wonderful little potato peeler for two or three decades now and just couldn't be happier with it. The peeler may be old and stained, but it definitely cleans well. I don't even know what brand it is, but the words SLIP PRUF and Made in USA are stamped on the inside of the steel handle. My wife didn't like the look of the grooming knife because of the stains so we bought a new one that looked the same. Well it isn't. They might have looked exactly the same, but there was one big difference between them. The new one (made in China) was so much worse than the old stained one that we threw away the new one and kept using the old one. Unfortunately we lost our old knife. It was just nowhere to be found, and we desperately needed a vegetable peeler in the kitchen. So I bought an Update International Pro-Grip Straight Peeler at my local grocery store. Oh man, that's just awful. He kind of tears the skin of a potato or carrot and doesn't peel. The cleaner looks perfectly normal, but it's awful to use and gives a tattered look to anything being cleaned. I'll keep it in my kitchen tool box just in case, but it's a piece of junk. Good news! After using the new cleaner for about two months, we discovered that the old one was tucked away in the wrong drawer at the back. What a relief! Gary Peterson
