Review on 🌌 Glowing Space Starter Marble Genius by Ryan Eastman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not quite the marble trail from my childhood, but still fun to get there!

As a child I had 2 marble runs. My parents still have them and our kids love playing with them (although I always have to set up a big track for them). There are 2 aspects to this set that make it different from the old marble walkway. Firstly, with this set, the connecting piece that fits other whistles is shorter, which makes the construction a bit more unstable. I had to rearrange a few towers while building the track for the kids. When using a longer fastener, the connections should not be as tight as possible to make it easier to connect and disassemble the parts. The second difference is the lack of a "starting block". The starting points in this set are mostly funnels. On older kits they had tilting platforms that I think could hold 6 balls for racing. Funnels can work this way if you drop the balls at the same time. However, there's something more fun the old-fashioned way. The colors on the box differ slightly from the details. The colors of the pieces are transparent, smoky, white and light green. There is no blue color as shown on the packaging but that's ok. It could be a manufacturing change or just a bad picture on the box, no big deal. However, the parts look like very thick plastic, so I bet they will last at least as long as the old sets. The marbles that came with the set (and there are a lot of them) are lighter than the old-style glass marbles. . I am not sure what they are made of. I got a little sick of them, but then I realized that's actually a good thing. Lighter balls cause the structure to shake less as the balls move down the lane (also a little less noise). One of the items in the set had a serious manufacturing defect (see image). It still works, but any pieces you put in the bottom will fall out easily. This seems easy to spot in quality control. I took off one star because of a manufacturing issue and because the plugs don't have longer plug ends (a little extension would have helped). I also took off a star because I felt there could have been at least one more connector type and fewer spacers/connectors. A favorite from the old set is the Jump and Catch figure. One said 5 stars the other said 4. I was about to give it 3 stars until the kids got involved. As this is her toy I felt her opinion should have some weight and I upgraded it to 4 stars.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
