I'm a committed Pyrex customer; I grew up with my mom's Pyrex glass measuring cups, so I knew they could withstand years of use and abuse. I bought these two containers specifically for homemade ice cream and they are perfect for that. Staying in the freezer will not cause these containers to crack or leak. Common sense: do not put untempered glass containers that have been in the freezer directly into a preheated oven! Sudden temperature changes in ANY glass or ceramic container will likely result in cracking at best and shattering at worst. Tempered glass is treated so that it will not break under extreme temperature changes, but can still crack if there is an existing defect (e.g. a chipped edge).
