Review on Fluidmaster 7530P8 Universal Wax-Free Toilet Seal - Better Than Wax Toilet Bowl Gasket, Fits Any Drain by Jose Guzman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A good system when it fits your flange

Like - flexible, the toilet can be moved, removed and reinstalled without affecting the seal. - forgive if the flange is a little high or low or not level - the toilet may wobble a little and maintain a tight seal. I don't like it - it's not suitable for my application. If you have a fairly new home with PVC drain and sewer pipes, these foam grommets are the right size. My old house has cast iron sewer pipes with a flange on the outside. The flange diameter is larger than that of this gasket. I had to unload the holes in the spacer ring so it could be installed on the toilet mounting bolts. The outside edge of the foam ring barely touches the inside edge of the flange. In other words, this ring needs another half inch outside diameter to fit the old cast iron flange. When the flexible gasket is stretched over the mounting bolts, it creates a non-circular, egg-shaped hole that is difficult for the toilet to enter. Universality is not always universal. Keep in mind that things labeled "one size fits all" and "one size fits all" often cause problems. - another dislike. This will work if the flange is slightly above the floor, even with the floor, or slightly below the floor (1/4" or less). If it's lower, you'll need to buy 2 gaskets and put one flex gasket inside the other. This will be explained in the packaging Install Instructions, Step 5C If it is more than 1/2" deep (incredibly bad roughing up or new layers of soil under the toilet) you will need a flange extender to ensure a secure fit and seal. Work as a Plumber? Summary - The gaskets are installed and working properly (I didn't stretch the flexible ones, just inserted them into the gasket where the toilet caught them when lowering) I had to change the mounting holes in the gasket, too tight, should be long like the mounting holes in the toilet If it was universal it would fit any flange, even old cast iron Old fashioned wax rings pa ssen, they have a larger inner diameter, a larger outer diameter. The toilet fits the flange and bolts, the universal gasket must have mounting holes like a toilet - just take the toilet according to the template, Fluidmaster design team. And if 2 fills are needed say so from the OUTSIDE of the box or at least in the Revain description. I hate those extra trips to Lowes in the middle of a project.
