I have ordered and returned several of these units from other vendors. Mostly it's garbage. This very strong clamp mechanism is soft on the inside and the size range the clamp supports exceeds specifications. It holds the iPad in place fairly well - not very durable, but nothing to complain about. I bought 2 - one mounted on a 1.25" vertical monitor stand on my desk. The other on a 1.25" bar but with thick neoprene padding on my exercise bike. And it still opened and clamped perfectly on it. My only - extremely minor - complaint, the ball-and-socket pull handle that locks the device holder in place could have had slightly deeper gripping tabs. A little difficult to put on as the combs don't offer much hand buying. It's fine if you don't change the position often, but I can see that it's a problem if someone adjusts that viewing angle frequently.
